A heavyweight bout has been added to UFC on FS1 on August 17th in Boston as former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem will meet Travis Browne. Fox Sports 1

UFC President Dana White confirmed the news to MMAJunkie.com on Wednesday and the organization has officially announced the fight.

This will not be the main event of the main card and the UFC is expected to announce the main event for UFC on FS1 shortly.

Overeem (36-12. 1NC) made his UFC debut at the end of 2011 against former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and won the fight in the first round by TKO. After serving a suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, he returned at UFC 156 against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and was defeated in the third round.

Browne (14-1-1) has gone 4-1-1 in the UFC and recently defeated Gabriel Gonzaga at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in April. Three of his four victories in the UFC have come by either submission or knockout and won a fight night bonus in those stoppage wins.

UFC on FS1 takes place on August 17th from the TD Garden in Boston and the UFC is expected to announce the main event and on sale ticket information in the near future.
