Titan Fighting Championships has announced that their fight card on June 7th from Marshall Army Airfield in Fort Riley, Kansas will be headlined by a heavyweight bout as former Strikeforce fighter Bobby Lashley meets former Bellator fighter Kevin Apslund.
The main card will be broadcast live on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET on June 7th and the card is title “Titan Fighting 25: Fight for the Troops 2.”
“We began to stage ‘Fight for the Troops 2’ immediately following the first one last summer. We are pleased and extremely greatful that the officials at Fort Riley have made their historic Marshall Army Airfield available again for a antother night of fights dedicated to our nation’s soldiers,” said Joe Kelly, President, Titan Fighting Championship.
“It is an honor to give back to our troops. I speak for everyone who is involved with Titan when I say these shows mean a lot to us. Having Bobby Lashley headline an event in front of his hometown will add to the excitment of a fight that would be a great main event in any city.”
Lashley (7-2) opened his career with five straight victories before suffering his first defeat in 2010 to Chad Griggs. He was released by Strikeforce following the defeat and won his next two fight with one of them coming in Titan Fighting Championships. His last fight came in the Super Fight League over a year ago against James Thompson and was defeated by unanimous decision.
“It’s great to be back in the cage for Titan Fighting,” said Lashley. “I’m really looking forward to entertaining the troops at Ft. Riley as well as fighting in my hometown.”
Apslund (15-4) was on a 15 fight winning streak before losing three straight fights. His last two defeats have come by submission in the first round with his most recent lost coming at KSW 22 in March against Pawel Nastula.
