Brandon Vera will be moving back to the UFC heavyweight division at UFC 164 on August 31st in Milwaukee as he will take on Ben Rothwell.
The UFC confirmed the fight booking today and both fighters had previously tweeted about the fight.
UFC 164 will take place on August 31st from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and tickets for the event will go on sale to the public on June 21st.
Vera (12-6, 1NC) made his UFC debut in 2005 and started as a heavyweight. He won his first four fights in the organization as a heavyweight but after dropping back to back fights, he dropped down to the light heavyweight division. As a light heavyweight in the UFC, Vera went 4-4, 1NC and is coming off a TKO lost to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC on FOX 4 last year.
Rothwell (32-9) entered the UFC in 2009 and has gone 2-3 in the UFC. His losses have come against Cain Velasquez, Mark Hunt and Gabriel Gonzaga. His win at UFC 145 over Brendan Schaub was the knockout of the night for the fight card and it was his 18th career win by knockout.
The UFC will be making more fight announcements for this card in the coming weeks and the main event is expected to be announced shortly.
