Carlos Condit tweeted earlier today that his next fight announcement would be coming shortly and it has been revealed that he will face Martin Kampmann in the main event of UFC on FS1 on August 28th in Indianapolis.
AJ Perez of FoxSports.com initially reported the fight booking and the UFC has now confirmed the report.
This will be a rematch of their 2009 bout which Kampmann won by split decision in the main event of UFC Fight Night 18.
Condit (28-7) became the interim UFC welterweight champion at the beginning of 2012 when he defeated Nick Diaz by decision at UFC 143. However, he has dropped back to back fights with the loses coming in a title unification bout with Georges St-Pierre and a decision lost to number one contender Johny Hendricks at UFC 158.
Kampmann (20-6) has not been inside the octagon since he was defeated by Hendricks at UFC 154 last November. Prior to his fight with Hendricks, he had won three in a row with fight night bonus wins over Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger.
UFC on FS1: Condit vs. Kampmann II will take place on August 28th from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana and tickets will go on sale to the public on June 14th.
