A pair of rumored featherweight bouts are now official for UFC 164 on August 31st in Milwaukee as Chad Mendes will face Clay Guida and Erik Koch meets Dustin Poirier.
UFC officials announced the fight bookings on Tuesday evening and both fights could take place on the main card which will air on pay-per-view.
UFC 164 takes place on August 31st from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and pre-sale tickets will go on sale today through Ticketmaster.
Mendes (14-1) has won three fights in a row after losing to UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo by knockout at UFC 142 at the beginning of last year. During his winning streak, all of the wins have come in the first round by TKO/KO with the longest fight lasting just under two minutes.
Guida (30-13) dropped down to the featherweight division at the beginning of the year and won his UFC featherweight debut by split decision over Hatsu Hioki. It was his first win since 2011 and was scheduled to meet Mendes at UFC on FOX 7. However, he suffered an injury and had to pull out of the fight.
Poirier (13-3) is currently ranked number seven in the official UFC media rankings and has won five of his seven fights in the organization. He is coming off a decision lost to Cub Swanson at UFC on FUEL TV 7 in February and two of his three career defeats have come by decision.
Koch (13-2) has won two of his three fights in the UFC since coming over to the organization from the WEC. He is currently ranked number ten in the official UFC media rankings and was defeated by Ricardo Lamas at UFC on FOX 6 in January. It was his first fight since 2011 and it snapped a four fight winning streak.
The UFC has not announced the main event for UFC 164 at this time and an announcement on who will headline this card is expected to be announced shortly.
