A bantamweight bout has been added to UFC on FOX 8 on July 27th in Seattle as John Albert will meet Yatzin Meza.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Thursday and the bout will take place on the preliminary card.
UFC on FOX 8 takes place on July 27th from KeyArena in Seattle and will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson defending the UFC flyweight title against John Moraga.
Albert (7-4) entered the UFC in 2011 as a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 14 and was a member of Team Bisping. His official UFC debut came at the live finale and he defeated Dustin Pague by TKO in the first round. Since that victory, he has lost three straight fights and is coming off a fight of the night bonus defeat to Scott Jorgensen at UFC on FOX 5.
Meza (19-8) made his UFC debut at the end of last year when he accepted a fight on a week’s notice against Chad Mendes. He was defeated knockout in the first round and it was his second first round TKO/KO lost in his last three fights. He is a training partner of lightweight champion Benson Henderson and six of his career wins have come by submission.
