Josh Barnett will make his return to the octagon on August 31st in Milwaukee at UFC 164 and will meet Frank Mir.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Wednesday evening and the fight will take place on the main card.
UFC 164 takes place on August 31st from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the UFC has not announced which fight will headline the card.
Barnett (32-6) last appeared in the UFC in 2002 and has won nine of his last ten fights. His only defeat in his last ten fights came in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Final when Daniel Cormier won the fight by unanimous decision.
Four of his last five victories have come in the first round with three of them coming by submission. He most recently defeated Nandor Guelmino by submission at the final Strikeforce event in January and it was his 19th career win by submission.
Mir (16-7) is coming off a decision lost to Cormier at UFC on FOX 7 and it was his second straight defeat. Prior to the back to back defeats, he had won three in a row which included the submission of the night at UFC 140 against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
