The UFC confirmed this fight and a lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon and Michael Johnson, which TheMMAReport.com reported earlier today.

Brown (17-11) is currently on a five fight winning streak and his last three wins have come by TKO/KO in the second round.

His most recent win came at UFC on FOX 7 last month against Jordan Mein and the bout won the fight of the night bonus. It was the first time that Brown won a fight night bonus in his 15 career fights and it was his tenth career win by knockout.

Alves (19-9) is a former title challenger in the UFC welterweight division and is 2-2 in his last four fights. This will be his first fight since his submission lost to Martin Kampmann at UFC on FX 2 last year as he has been out of action due to an injury.

Prior to the defeat to Kampmann, he had won two of three which included a first round submission win over Papy Abedi at UFC 138 in late 2011.

UFC on FS1 takes place on August 17th from the TD Garden in Boston and the UFC is expected to announce the main event in the near future.
