UFC President Dana White previously announced that the winner of the TJ Grant and Gray Maynard fight would receive a title shot and Grant had an impressive TKO win to secure that title shot.
The fight opened with both fighters exchanging strikes and Grant asking for Maynard to come forward and throw a punch at him.
After Grant landed a right hand, Maynard faked a takedown attempt in hopes of landing a big strike. Grant would then land a right hand that dropped Maynard and followed with a flurry of punches.
Maynard would survive the initial flurry but Grant continued to land punches on the ground and the referee came in to stop the fight.
Grant (21-5) has now won five in a row and will be the next title challenger for Benson Henderson’s lightweight title.
