The second of two flyweight bouts on the UFC on FX 8 card took place on the preliminary card and John Lineker won his second straight fight in the UFC with a TKO win over Azamat Gashimov in the second round.
Lineker (21-6) dominated the bout with his striking as he attacked the head and body of Gashimov in both rounds. He landed several big strikes in the opening round and dropped Gashimov on two occasions.
During the opening round, Gashimov had a point deducted by referee Mario Yamasaki for holding the fence.
Gashimov was attempting to stop a takedown and grab the fence which Yamasaki warned him about grabbing the fence. After receiving a warning, he grabbed the fence once again and Yamasaki deducted a point at that time.
The end of the fight would come early in the second round as Lineker landed a kick to the body that led to a combination and he finished the fight on the ground. This is the ninth career TKO/KO win for Lineker and Gashimov (7-3) has dropped his second straight fight and could be released following this defeat.
