The opening bout of the UFC on FX 8 preliminary card on Facebook was a lightweight bout as Lucas Martins defeated Jeremy Larsen at the beginning of the third round by knockout.
Both fighters came out swinging from the opening bell as each fighter landed big shots in the first and second round.
Larsen was able to counter the punches of Martins in the first and second rounds and appeared to have an edge on the scorecards heading into the final round.
As the third round opened, both fighters threw punches at the same time and Martins right hand landed on the jaw of Larsen and he immediately went to the ground. Once Larsen fell to the mat, referee Mario Yamasaki came in to stop the fight as Martins landed punches on the ground.
This is the first win for Martins (13-1) in the UFC and is his ninth career win by TKO/KO. Six of his last seven wins have come by knockout and is a contender for the knockout of the night bonus.
Larsen (8-4, 1NC) has now lost back to back fights in the UFC and this is the second time he has been defeated by knockout.
