The UFC announced yesterday that Nate Diaz had been suspended pending an investigation following his a tweet he sent out regarding the Pat Healy situation.
The organization has announced on Friday night that Diaz has received a suspension of 90 days and has been fined $20,000.
“UFC lightweight Nate Diaz has received an immediate 90-day suspension and $20,000 fine for violating the UFC’s fighter code of conduct,” UFC said in a statement.
‘The language used in his tweet was regrettable, offensive and inconsistent with the values and culture of the organization, and is not tolerated. The money will be donated to charity.”
Diaz (16-9) sent out a tweet yesterday afternoon about Pat Healy losing his submission of the night bonus for his positive drug test for UFC 159. The tweet was directed at Bryan Caraway, who received the submission of the night bonus after Healy’s positive drug test was announced.
“I feel bad for Pat Healy that they took a innocent mans money and I think the guy who took the money is the biggest f** in the world,” Diaz tweeted.
Diaz’s manager Mike Kogan released a statement to MMAJunkie.com yesterday, but Diaz has not made any public comments since sending out the tweet that has caused him to get suspended by the UFC.
