A knee injury has forced Anthony Pettis to pull out of his UFC 163 bout against featherweight champion Jose Aldo and stepping in to replace Pettis will be Chan Sung Jung.
UFC President Dana White tweeted the news on Friday afternoon and Pettis then tweeted the extent of his knee injury.
“Injuries are part of the sport,” Pettis tweeted. “Small tear in my meniscus. I was so ready for this fight, this won’t stop me!Be back soon.”
UFC 163: Aldo vs. Jung will take place on August 3rd from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the main card will be televised on pay-per-view.
Jung (13-3) has won three fights in a row and was scheduled to face Ricardo Lamas at UFC 162 on July 6th. With Jung being moved to the main event of UFC 163, the UFC will search for a new opponent for Lamas.
