The Bellator Summer Series light heavyweight tournament final is set as Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal will face Jacob Noe and that fight is targeted to take place next month at Bellator 97 on July 31st.
Both fighters scored TKO/KO victories on the main card of Bellator 96 on Wednesday night in Oklahoma as Lawal defeated Seth Petruzelli in the first round and Noe stopped Renato “Babalu” Sobral in the third round.
Noe was not present at the post fight press conference following Bellator 96 as Bellator MMA Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney stated the fighter went for observations after he complained of soreness in his hand.
Prior to Rebney stating the reason for why Noe was not at the press conference, Lawal made a clear statement that he does not like Noe, the gym he trains at or anyone affiliated with him.
“I don’t like him,” Lawal said at the post fight press conference. “I don’t like the gym he trains at. He is fake. He talks a lot of trash behind my back and I hope that he is here listening or you can tell him this. I am going to beat the brakes off him. I am going to whoop his ass so bad. I am going to retire him. I am going to make sure he goes back crying to his family again. Because last time we both lost, he was crying, talking about how he missed his family. I am going to make sure that happens again. I can not stand the dude. I can not stand anybody that is affiliated with him. I am going to punish this dude. I am serious.”
Lawal hopes that Noe is able to take the fight against him next month at Bellator 97 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico at the Santa Ana Star Center. According to Lawal, not only does he plan to defeat Noe, he plans to retire him.
“I hope that he fights me but it’s whatever. Just to let you know, when I do fight him, I am going to retire him. Can’t stand that dude.”
Rebney should know in the next couple of hours if Noe suffered a hand injury that would keep him out of the tournament final taking place next month. If Noe is unable to compete, Bellator could delay the tournament final till later in the year.
