UFC 161 Result: Alexis Davis wins UFC debut with decision over Rosi Sexton

Alexis Davis and Rosi Sexton battled for three rounds and Davis came out as the winner as she won by unanimous decision. UFC 161 Small

The ladies came out swinging away as the fight opened and Davis looked to use her size advantage by clinching Sexton against the fence. sexton would be able to stop the attempt and separated from Davis.

Davis would end up getting the fight to the ground and looked for a submission from her back with an armbar. Davis began to work for a triangle choke against the fence. Sexton landed several punches while Davis had the choke on her. Sexton was able to defend the submission attempt and continued to land strikes until the first round came to an end.

During the second round, Sexton was able to use her striking to get the fight to the ground but Davis was able to reverse the position and get in top position. Davis would be able to transition to the back of Sexton and looked for a rear-naked choke. She would let the submission go and threw punches. She would flatten out Sexton with 30 seconds left in the round and landed multiple punches. Sexton was able to survive till the end of the round and the fight moved into the third.

In the final round, they exchanged strikes for the first minute of the round before the action went to the mat. Davis was able to get the back of Sexton while on the ground and looked for a choke. Davis was able to lock in the body triangle but Sexton was able to reverse the position and get the half guard position.

They would continue to fight on the ground and Sexton passed to get the back of Davis and appeared to be going for a kimura. She was unable to lock in the submission and Davis would be back in top position. The fight would end in this position and Davis would go on to win on the judges scorecards.
