Daniel Sarafian scored his first official victory inside the UFC as he submitted Eddie Mendez in the first round by an arm triangle choke.
The fight opened with each fighter landing strikes with Sarafian landing counter strikes to take advantage. After grappling against the cage, Sarafian was able to take the fight to the ground and had the half guard position.
While in the half guard position, he began to work for an arm triangle choke submission and was able to advance his position which allowed him to lock in the submission attempt and Mendez tapped out.
Sarafian (8-3) has now won by submission in seven of his eight wins and the is a leading candidate to get the submission of the night bonus for tonight’s card.
