A heavyweight bout that was scheduled to take place at UFC on FOX 8 has been rescheduled and Brendan Schaub now now meet Matt Mitrione at UFC 165 in September.
UFC officials announced the new date for the bout on late Friday evening after the fight was reported by Dave Deibert of the Post Media News in Canada.
UFC 165 takes place on September 21st from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Alexander Gustafsson.
Schaub (9-3) was a contestant with Mitrione on The Ultimate Fighter 10 and lost in the final to Roy Nelson. Since losing to Nelson, he has won five of his seven fights in the UFC and three of those wins came by TKO/KO. He recently snapped a two fight losing streak as he defeated Lavar Johnson by unanimous decision at UFC 157.
Mitrione (6-2) has had all of his professional fights take place in the UFC and opened his career with five straight wins. After winning his first five fights, he dropped back to back fights and snapped his losing streak at UFC on FUEL TV 8 earlier this year when he defeated Phil De Fries by knockout in the first round.
