Mark Munoz stepped into the octagon for the first time in over a year and defeated Tim Boetsch on the UFC 162 main card. 
When the fight opened, it didn’t take long for the fight to get to the ground as Boetsch took advantage. Munoz was able to get back to his feet and Boetsch came forward to clinch with him against the cage.
Munoz was able to take the fight to the ground but Boetsch was able to get back to his feet. They grappled against the fence and Munoz got the back of Boetsch and take the fight to the ground.
Boetsch was able to reverse the position and put his arm under the neck of Munoz. Munoz would get back to his feet and landed a right hand that got the attention of Boetsch. Once again, they would grapple against the fence with Boetsch’s back to the cage. Munoz would land a combination in the final 30 seconds and the fight moved into the second round.
At the start of the second round, Boetsch was able to land a kick before Munoz took control early in the round. Munoz would grab Boetsch against the cage and appeared to look for a takedown. They would separate from each other and Boetsch became the aggressor. However, Munoz would take the fight to the ground and had the back of Boetsch.
Munoz landed several body punches on the ground before Boetsch was able to get back to his feet. Once again, Munoz would take the fight to the ground and Munoz worked his ground strikes. Munoz would land multiple shots on the ground before the round would come to a close.
In the final round, Munoz took the fight to the ground and Boetsch looked for a submission. However, Munoz was able to escape and the action stayed on the ground. Boetsch looked for another submission but Munoz escaped and worked his ground strikes. While in the half guard position, Munoz went for a kimura submission but Boetsch defended the submission attempt.
Munoz (13-3) continued to dominate Boetsch as the fight came to an end and all three judges scored the fight for Munoz.
