The end of the year pay-per-view for the UFC will take place on December 28th in Las Vegas and it will be headlined by UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey defending the title against Miesha Tate.
UFC President Dana White made the announcement at the UFC 162 Post Fight Press Conference and the card will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Rousey and Tate just finished filming “The Ultimate Fighter 18” and the show will premiere on Septermber 4th at 10 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1. This season of the reality show will feature men and women bantamweight fighters and the live finale will take place in December.
Rousey (7-0) was named the women’s bantamweight champion in late 2012 after coming over from Strikeforce and successfully defended the title at UFC 157 in February against Liz Carmouche. Just like all of her other fights, she won by armbar in the first round but it was only the second time in her career that she did not win in the first minute of the fight.
Tate (13-4) is the former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion, which she lost the title to Rousey in 2012. She lost her UFC debut to Cat Zingano at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in a number one contenders bout. However, after Zingano suffered a knee injury, the UFC elected to give Tate the rematch against Rousey for the belt.
UFC 168: Rousey vs. Tate II will take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and the UFC will be making fight announcements over the next few months.
