UFC on FOX 8 Result: Germaine de Randamie wins UFC debut by split decision over Julie Kedzie

The first bout on the UFC on FOX 8 preliminary card on FX was a women’s bantamweight bout as Germaine de Randamie defeated Julie Kedzie by split decision to win her UFC debut.UFC on FOX 8

At the beginning of the fight, they felt each other out and Kedzie looked for a takedown but the attempt was unsuccessful. Kedzie would land a short right hand that connected and rushed in to attack.

They would clinch against the fence with Kedzie’s back to the cage and De Randamie landing knees to the body. Kedzie would be able to reverse the position and looked for a takedown. They continued to stay in this position until the referee separated them for a lack of action.

The fight continued in the middle of the cage and Kedzie caught a leg kick and once agan looked to take the fight to the ground. She would not get the fight to the ground and they ended up clinching against the cage which De Randamie landed several knees before the round came to a conclusion.

In the second round, they opened by striking with each other and Kedzie would be able to get the fight to the ground at the two minute mark of the round. While on the ground, she was in the half guard position and looked to pass to side control. They would stay in the position for the rest of the round with Kedzie struggling to mount much offense while having the dominant position.

As the final round opened, they clinched in the center of the cage and Kedzie looked to take the fight back to the ground. De Randamie was able to stop the attempt and clinch with Kedzie against the fence. They would end of separating after De Randamie was able to land a knee.

After exchanging strikes for two minutes, Kedzie was able to get a takedown with 45 seconds left in the fight and had top position. They were both active from their position and the fight would be determined by the judges.

Two of the three judges scored the fight for De Randamie (4-2) and she has now won three of her last four fights. Kedzie (16-12) has now lost three straight fights and her last win came in 2011.
