It was announced earlier this week that Eddie Alvarez had come to a settlement with Bellator over his contract situation and will be facing Michael Chandler in the co-main event of the inaugural Bellator pay-per-view on November 2nd.
During an interview this week with Ron Kruck of Inside MMA on AXS TV, UFC President Dana White called Bellator disgusting and they should be embarrassed over this situation.
“I think the way they [Bellator] handled that situation with him [Alvarez] was disgusting,” White told Kruck. “I think that they should be embarrassed and it’s good to see that he is fighting.”
The terms of the settlement between Alvarez and Bellator are confidential but White went on to tell Kruck that he has heard rumors about Alvarez’s new deal with Bellator.
“I can’t speak on it because I am just hearing rumors on what his new deal is and his new deal does not sound any better. Sounds like he has been treated pretty terrible over there. He basically got into a situation where he has to fight. They ought to be embarrassed and they have a lot of things to be embarrassed about over there so I’m sure they are not worried about it.”
While the terms of Alvarez’s new deal will likely never become public knowledge, his fight against Chandler will take place in California and the California State Athletic Commission is one of the state commission that will release the disclosed fighter salaries.
Once that number becomes public record, we will see how the mixed martial arts community reacts to what Alvarez makes for his rematch against Chandler.
