Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will be dropping down to the middleweight division and he will meet Tim Kennedy in the main event of UFC Fight for the Troops 3 on November 6th.
UFC President Dana White announced the fight booking on Wednesday night’s edition of Fox Sports Live on Fox Sports 1.
The only other fight that had been previously announced for this upcoming fight card was a lightweight bout as Jorge Masvidal meeting Rustam Khabilov.
Machida (19-4) will be dropping down to the middleweight division after going 2-2 in his last four fights. After winning back to back fights against Ryan Bader and Dan Henderson, he was defeated earlier this month by Phil Davis at UFC 163 by unanimous decision.
Kennedy (16-4) entered the UFC earlier this year after being a middleweight title contender in Strikeforce. He has won his last two fights, including his UFC debut against Roger Gracie at UFC 162 by unanimous decision.
UFC Fight for the Troops 3 will take place on November 6th from Fort Campbell, Kentucky and the main card will air live on Fox Sports 1. More details on this upcoming UFC fight card will be released by the organization in the coming days.
