XFC lightweight champion Scott Holtzman has signed a contract extension with the Florida based promotion and he will be headling XFC 26: Night of Champions III as he will be challenged by Roger Carroll.
The fight was announced on Friday night’s edition of Inside MMA on AXS TV.
XFC 26: Night of Champions III will take place on October 18th from the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee and the main card will be shown live on AXS TV.
“Roger Carroll dropping down to 155 is a tall order for the new champ,” XFC President John Prisco said. “Holtzman is relentless, but Roger Carroll is one of the toughest guys to ever step foot in our cage. The guy is hard to finish; this is going to be a good old fashioned scrap! We know both these guys can dish out punishment, so the question is going to be, who can take the punishment and keep coming.”
Holtzman (5-0) has had all of his professional fights take place in the XFC and won the vacant XFC lightweight title in June when he defeated John Mahlow by TKO in the second round. It was his fourth victory by stoppage and three of his last four wins have come by TKO.
Carroll (13-9) began is professional MMA career in 2008 and this will be the third time that he will step into the XFC cage. His most recent fight in the XFC came in February of this year when he defeated Josh Eagans by TKO in the second round.
More fights for this card will be announced in the coming weeks and the next XFC event will take place on September 6th in New Mexico and it will also be seen on AXS TV.
