The opening bout of the UFC 164 preliminary card was a middleweight bout as Magnus Cedenblad won his first fight in the UFC as he defeated Jared Hamman by submission in 57 seconds.
As the opening bell sounded, Hamman rushed forward and landed a low leg kick. He continued to push the pace and went for a takedown.
As he went for the takedown, Cedenblad put his arms around his next and went for the guillotine choke. Cedenblad dropped to the mat with the submission hold locked in and Hamman tapped out fairly quickly.
Cedenblad (10-4) has now won four fights by submission in his career and he is now 1-1 inside the UFC. With this defeat, Hamman (13-6) has dropped three straight fights and may end up being released by the promotion.
