In the only flyweight bout of UFC 164, Tim Elliot had a tremendous performance as he defeated Louis Gaudinot by unanimous decision.
Elliot opened the fight as the aggressor and landed several strikes before he accidentally poked Gaudinot in the eyes. Upon the restart of the fight, Elliot to the fight to the ground and looked for a submission. Gaudinot would escape the submission and got back to his feet.
Once again, Elliot would take the fight to the ground after landing multiple strikes and worked his ground and pound. Gaudinot would weather the storm and get back to his feet. After a brief exchange of strikes against the fence, Elliot took the fight to the ground and kept the fight there until the end of the opening round.
Elliot continued to control the bout in the second round with his striking and took the fight to the ground with two minutes left in the round. While on the ground, he had top position and passed to the half guard position. While in half guard, he landed multiple short strikes and maintained the position until the round came to a conclusion.
In the final round, Elliot was able to take the fight to the ground in the opening 20 seconds. He landed several short strikes from side control and appeared to be looking for a submission. He would not get the submission and continued to control the bout on the ground. He would rain down punches until the end of the round and Gaudinot was unable to get off his back.
Elliot (10-3-1) won the fight on all three of the judges scorecards and he has won back to back fights after being defeated by former title challenger John Dodson.
