The opening bout of the UFC Fight Night 26 preliminary card was a lightweight bout as Ultimate Fighter 15 alum James Vick finally made his UFC debut and only needed 58 seconds to defeat Ramsey Nijem by submission.
The bout opened with Nijem being the aggressor by throwing leg kicks and coming straight forward. The fight ended up going to the ground and Nijem would have top position.
Vick would look to get back to his feet by wall walking and while he was doing this, Nijem left his neck opened and Vick went for a guillotine choke. Once he had the choke locked in, Nijem would immediately tap to the submission.
Vick (5-0) has now won three of his five professional bouts by submission and this is the first time he has won a fight by guillotine choke. Nijem (7-4) has now lost back to back fights after being on a three fight win streak. His last two defeats have come by stoppage and his last win took place at the end of last year.
