Steven Siler scored the biggest victory of his career on Saturday in Boston as he defeated former WEC champion Mike Brown by knockout in the first round.
As the action opened, Brown pushed the pace and Siler would end up catching him with an uppercut as he came in. The uppercut would put Brown on the ground and Siler began to look for the finish.
At first, Brown was able to move his head away from the punches that Siler was throwing. However, Siler would land a right hand that stunned Brown and he landed one more punch before referee Yves Lavigne came in to stop the fight.
Brown felt the stoppage by Lavigne was early but the replay showed that it was a good stoppage and Siler (23-10) has now won five of his six fights in the UFC. The defeat for Brown (26-9) snapped a two fight winning streak and this is his first defeat since 2011.
