Jason High secured his first UFC victory on Wednesday on the UFC Fight Night 27 preliminary card as he defeated James Head in the first round by submission.
The fight opened with Head landing the first strike and the fight went to the ground after he landed the first strike. High was able to get the dominant position on the ground and went for a guillotine choke.
Head attempted to roll out of the submission attempt, but High could maintain the submission hold and Head would tap out.
High (17-4) has now won eight of his last nine fights and this is his eight career win by submission. Head (9-4) has dropped back to back fights in the UFC with both of those losses coming by stoppage in the first round.
