The only bantamweight bout on the UFC Fight Night 27 card was on the main card as Takeya Mizugaki won his third straight fight as he defeated Erik Perez by split decision. 
The fighters came out swinging as the fight opened as each fighter landed punches and kicks. After nearly two minutes of striking, Perez took the fight to the ground but Mizugaki was able to work his way back to his feet.
Perez would catch a kick from Mizugaki and took the fight to the ground but once again, Mizugaki was able to get back to his feet. He would end up taking the fight to the ground but Perez would get back to his feet and the fight moved into the second round.
In the second round, they exchange strikes and Perez attempted to get the fight to the ground. Mizugaki was able to stop the attempts in the first half of the round and keep the fight on the feet. Perez would get a takedown in the final 90 seconds of the round but Mizugaki would limit the damage, get back to his feet and the fight moved into the third and final round.
Mizugaki was able to open the final round with a combination and would get a takedown at the one minute mark. Perez would get back to his feet and they continued to have a striking battle. The fight would go to the ground with Mizugaki getting the back of Perez and went for a rear-naked choke.
Perez escaped the submission attempt and got back to his feet with just over 90 seconds left in the fight. He attempted to get the fight to the ground but Mizugaki stopped the attempt and the fight would be decided by the judges.
Two of the three judges scored the fight for Mizugaki (18-7-2) who has now won three fights in a row in the UFC with the last two wins coming by split decision.
