The UFC handed out six fight night bonuses on Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 26 with Chael Sonnen, Travis Browne, Matt Brown, Michael McDonald and Brad Pickett all picking up bonuses.
UFC President Dana White announced the bonuses at the post fight press conference and each bonus was worth $50,000.
Sonnen won one of the submission of the night bonus for his first round guillotine choke submission against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. The victory snapped a two fight losing streak and this is the third time he has won a fight night bonus.
The other submission of the night went to McDonald who also won the fight of the night bonus with Pickett. McDonald won the fight in the second round by triangle choke. He has now won four fight night bonuses and Pickett has won five fight night bonuses in the UFC.
The knockout of the night bonuses went to Browne and Brown who won their fights in the first round. Browne knocked out Alistair Overeem late in the first round by landing a front kick and finishing the fight on the ground. This is his second straight win where he has won the knockout of the night bonus and is his fourth overall fight night bonus.
Brown defeated Mike Pyle in 29 seconds and he has now won six fights in a row. His last four wins have come by TKO/KO and he has won a fight night bonus in his last two fights.
