The Bellator 98 Weigh-Ins took place on Friday afternoon and the fight card is now official with eleven bouts.
Today’s weigh-ins took place at The Cabaret Theater inside the Mohegan Sun Casino and tomorrow night’s fight card will come from the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Tomorrow night’s preliminary card will begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on Spike.com and the main card will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Spike TV.
The main card will be headlined by a title fight as Alexander Shlemenko (183.25 lbs) defends the Bellator middleweight title for the first time as he is challenged by Brett Cooper (184.75 lbs).
Also on the main card will be the four opening round bouts of the season nine middleweight tournament with the matchups being Brian Rogers (185 lbs) vs. Mikkel Parlo (185 lbs), Jason Butcher (184.5 lbs) vs. Giva Santana (185.5 lbs), Jeremy Kimball (186 lbs) vs. Perry Filkins (186lbs) and Justin Torrey (185lbs) vs. Brennan Ward (185.25 lbs).
Ward was not initially in this tournament and Bellator announced just before the weigh-ins that Torrey’s original opponent Andreas Spang was “deemed ineligible by the commission to compete.” TheMMAReport.com has reached out to the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation but they have not commented at this time on why Spang was not given a license to fight.
