Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. James Te Huna official as co-main event of UFC Fight Night 33

The co-main event of UFC Fight Night 33 on December 7th in Australia will be a light heavyweight bout as former UFC champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will meet James Te Huna.

The bout was made official on Wednesday after the news of the bout was initially reported by Daily Telegraph in Australia.

UFC Fight Night 33 will take place from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in on December 7th in Australia and will be headlined by Mark Hunt meeting Antonio Silva in a heavyweight bout. The event will air live in the United States on December 6th, due to the time difference between United States and Australia.

Rua (21-8) has lost back to back fights in the UFC and he was most recently defeated by Chael Sonnen at UFC Fight Night 26 last month. His last win took place over a year ago when he defeated Brandon Vera by TKO in the fourth round in the main event of UFC on FOX 4.

Te Huna (16-6) will also enter this fight coming off a defeat as Glover Teixeria submitted him at UFC 160 in the first round. The defeat snapped a four fight win streak, which included decision wins over Ryan Jimmo and Joey Beltran.
