In the opening bout of the UFC 165 online preliminary card, Daniel Omielanczuk won his UFC debut by knockout in the third round against Nandor Guelmino.
In the opening round, they would have a striking battle with each fighter throwing multiple kicks to the legs. Omielanczuk attempted to get the fight to the ground on two separate occasions but he could not keep the fight on the ground for much time.
Omielanczuk began to land his heavy hands at the beginning of the second round and as he looked to take the fight to the ground, he went for a guillotine choke. The attempt would be unsuccessful and he got the fight to the ground and had a dominate position.
As he went for a kimura submission, Guelmino reverse the position and get out of the submission. He began to land strikes on the ground. He would maintain his position on the ground until the round came to an end.
In the final round, both fighters were fatigued and did not have the same pop in there punched and kicks. They would clinch with each other on two opportunities in the opening half of the round and they would be separated after a lack of action. After they were separated for a second time, Omielanczuk landed a two punch combination and he knocked out Guelmino.
Omielanczuk (16-3-1, 1NC) has now won twelve fights in a row and this is his first win by knockout since 2011.
