Renan Barao retained the interim bantamweight title in the co-main event of UFC 165 as he landed a spinning back kick to finished Eddie Wineland in the second round.
During the opening round, Wineland was the aggressor as he continued to come forward and look for holes in the striking defense of Barao. While he would land combinations, Barao would be able to counter the combinations with his own punches.
The end of the fight would come at the :35 second mark of the round as he landed a spinning back kick that dropped Wineland and he finished the fight on the ground with punches.
With this victory, Barao is now expected to face bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz at the beginning of the year to unify the UFC title.
