Joseph Benavidez took another step toward another chance at the UFC flyweight title as he defeated Jussier Formiga in the first round by TKO.
Benavidez was the aggressor from the opening bell and was landing his punches. He had Formiga on his heels throughout the fight as Formiga struggle to mount much offense.
The end of the fight would come in the third minute as he landed a knee that dropped Formiga and he finished the fight on the ground.
Benavidez (19-3) has won three straight fights with his last two wins coming by TKO/KO. Formiga (15-3) has dropped two of his three fights in the UFC after being known as one of the best flyweight fighters in the world.
