UFC on FOX 9 will be in Sacramento on December 14th and Urijah Faber will fight in his hometown in the co-main event as he will meet Michael McDonald in a battle of top bantamweights.
UFC officials announced the fight booking and the organization is targeting to have this event headlined by lightweight champion Anthony Pettis defending the title against TJ Grant.
Faber (29-6) is currently on a three fight winning streak and his most recent victory came against Iuri Alcantara at UFC Fight Night 26 last month. He is currently ranked as the number two challenger in the UFC media rankings and a win could secure him another opportunity at UFC gold.
McDonald (16-2) won his first four fights in the UFC before being defeated by interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao at UFC on FUEL TV 7 in February. He returned to the octagon last month and defeated Brad Pickett by submission in the second round and won the fight of the night and submission of the night bonus at UFC Fight Night 26.
UFC on FOX 9 will come from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California with the main card broadcast on FOX and preliminary card on Fox Sports 1. The UFC will be announcing more fights and ticket information for this fight card in the coming weeks.
