This past saturday’s World Series of Fighting 5 event was televised live on the NBC Sports Network and featured Andrei Arlovksi defeating Mike Kyle via unanimous decision.

According to Nielsen sources, the preliminary overnight ratings (which will fluctuate since it was a live event) for the World Series of Fighting 5 hit 227k total viewers. Note, this is a not a peak number, just the overnight average.

World Series of Fightings last event (WSOF 4) was a promotion high of 264k total viewers, so this weekends show drops a little bit, but not by much at all.

When it came to the competition, College Football, notably, Notre Dame, once again destroyed another MMA show on a Saturday night. The Notre Dame vs Purdue game on ABC garnered 4.47 million total viewers and a 1.3 rating, winning the night.

Honestly, this was a fight card that was not promoted well, and up against heavy College Football and Boxing competition, so this is actually a great number overall. I mean, what do you expect for a number, when the NBCSN could barely offer up any advertising space for this solid Saturday night MMA card.
