Bellator 102 Result: Brennan Ward advances to middleweight final with submission victory over Joe Pacheco

As the bout opened, Ward was able to land a combination and he would end up taking the fight to the ground. Once on the ground, he would have the half guard position and would move back into the guard of Pacheco.

Pacheco would reverse the position but Ward would scramble to his feet and they would clinch against the fence. Pacheco would be able to take the fight to the ground and have the half guard position. While on the ground, Pacheco looked for a submission and would transition to the mount position in the final seconds of the opening round.

Pacheco attempted to get the fight back to the ground as the second round opened, but Ward was able to stop the attempt. Pacheco looked for another takedown and he was able to sprawl to stop the takedown. Ward would end up getting the fight to the ground and landed strikes in the half guard position.

He would pass to the back of Pacheco and after being unable to get a submission, he left the position and the fight moved back to the feet. After a brief exchange of strikes, Pacheco changed levels and attempted to get the fight to the ground. Ward was able to stop the attempt and got his hands under the neck or Pacheco and locked in a guillotine choke which would end the fight.

Ward (8-1) advances to the middleweight tournament final and this is his second career win by submission. He is now 4-1 in Bellator and two of his last three wins in the organization have come by submission.
