The main event of Bellator 105 was the second semifinal bout in the season nine lightweight tournament and Will Brooks defeated Saad Awad by unanimous decision to advance to the tournament final. 
After a brief feeling out process, Brooks was able to take the fight to the ground when Awad went for a leg kick. Brooks was able to have side control on the ground and as Awad got to his feet, he landed knees in the clinch.
However, Awad was able to take the fight back to the ground and had the mount. He was unable to capitalize on the position and Brooks reverse the position. He had top position on Awad and landed multiple strikes before eventually getting into side control. He would keep the position until the end of the round and the fight moved into the second.
As the second round opened, Brooks showed confidence and was daring Awad to come in and engage. Awad would wait for his opportunity and jumped on a guillotine choke. Brooks would escape and return back to his feet. Brooks would secure a takedown and once again passed to side control.
Brooks would go back into the guard of Awad and landed body shots as Awad was looking for a standup by the referee. Awad would throw legs that backed off Brooks. Awad would stay on the ground and would lock in a triangle choke in the final 15 seconds of the round. Brooks would be able to make it to the bell and the fight moved into the final round.
In the third round, Awad was able to defend a takedown and took Brooks down. He would be unable to mount any offense and Brooks got back to his feet. Once on his feet, Brooks was able to grab the back of Awad and take the fight to the ground.
Awad would be abe to get back to his feet at the midway point of the round. Awad began to taunt Brooks to get into a striking battle with him, but Brooks decided to take the fight to the ground. However, referee Jason Herzog would stand the fighters up after a lack of action.
With one minute left in the fight, Brooks took the fight back to the ground and had side control. He would transition to the back and the fight would end in this position. Brooks (12-1) would get the victory on the judges scorecards and he will meet Tiger Sarnavskiy in the season nine lightweight tournament final.
