The first pay-per-view event of 2014 will take place on Super Bowl weekend in New Jersey, and the fight card will be headlined by two title fights.
Jose Aldo will defend the featherweight title against Ricardo Lamas, and Dominick Cruz will return from his two year layoff to have a bantamweight title unification bout against Renan Barao.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Tuesday.
Aldo (23-1) will be making making his sixth UFC featherweight title defense and will be coming into the fight with a 16 fight winning streak. His most recent title defense came in August at UFC 163 as he defeated Chan Sung Jung by TKO in the fourth round.
Lamas (13-2) is currently on a four fight winning streak and has gone 8-2 in UFC/WEC. He is coming off a win in January against Eric Koch and three of his last four wins have come by stoppage.
Cruz (19-1) has been out of action for the past two years due to a knee injury. His last fight took place in late 2011 as he defeated now UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson to retain the UFC bantamweight title.
Barao (31-1, 1NC) became the interim champion last year and has made two title defenses. His most recent title defense came at UFC 165, where he defeated Eddie Wineland by TKO in the second round.
UFC 169 will take place on February 1st from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and the UFC will be announcing on sale ticket information in the coming weeks.
