A lightweight bout has been scheduled for UFC on FOX 9 in December as Pat Healy will meet former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Sunday and the bout will be placed on the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1.
UFC on FOX 9 will come from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California on December 14th and will be headlined by Anthony Pettis defending the UFC lightweight title against Josh Thomson.
Healy (31-16, 1NC) returned to the UFC earlier this year and has gone 0-1, 1NC since coming back to the organization. He was recently defeated by #7 UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov by unanimous decision at UFC 165 and this will be his fourth fight of 2013.
Varner (21-8-1, 2NC) has gone 2-2 since coming back to the UFC last year and his last two fights have been decided by a split decision. After defeating Melvin Guillard by split decision at UFC 155, he came out on the losing end of a split decision at UFC 164 against Gleison Tibau.
