In the first lightweight fight of the night, Ultimate Fighter winner Tony Ferguson stepped into the cage for the first time in 17 months and submitted Mike Rio in the first round.
As the action opened, Ferguson was able to get the fight to the ground and immediately looked for a submission. Rio was able to defend the submission and get back to his feet. They would exchange strikes and Ferguson landed a left hand that stunned Rio.
Ferguson would take the fight to the ground and immediately went for a d’arce choke submission and Rio would submit to the hold.
Ferguson (14-3) gets his first win since 2011 and he has won four of his five fights in the UFC.
