The opening bout of the UFC Fight Night 29 preliminary card was a lightweight bout as Alan Patrick defeated Garett Whiteley by TKO in the first round.
As the fight opened, Patrick was able to land several strikes before taking the fight to the ground. Whiteley was able to get back to his feet and the fighters would separate from each other.
The action would be paused for a moment for an illegal strike from Patrick, but Whiteley would be able to continue. They would continue their striking battle with Patrick landing multiple strikes including a spinning back kick.
With less than 90 second left in the opening round, Patrick landed a left land as Whiteley was throwing his own punch. The strike would drop Whiteley to the mat and Patrick would finish the fight on the ground with strikes.
Patrick (11-0) has now won four of his fights by TKO/KO and he has won three of his last five fights by TKO/KO.
