UFC Fight Night 29 Result: Thiago Silva wins second straight with decision over Matt Hamill

Thiago Silva was unable to make weight yesterday but he was able to score a decision victory over Matt Hamill on the UFC Fight Night 29 main card. UFC Fight Night 29 Brazil Poster

The light heavyweights opened up the fight by exchanging strikes and Hamill attempted to get the fight to the mat. Silva was able to stop the attempts and was able to land his right hand.

The remainder of the opening round would stay on the feet with Hamill landing a punch to start the exchanges and Silva countering his punches.

As the second round started, Hamill was able to land multiple leg kicks and ended up taking the fight to the ground. Silva would be able to get back to his feet and he worked his leg kicks to wear down Hamill.

Silva landed a right hand that rocked Hamill and he attempted to finish the fight on the ground. Hamill would be able to survive and get back to his feet. In the final minute of the round, Silva continued to land his strikes but could not get a finish before the round came to an end.

In the opening 30 seconds of the third round, Hamill attempted to get the fight to the ground. However, the attempt was not successful. During a striking exchange, Hamill unintentionally poked Silva in the eye. The cage side doctor would come in and Silva told the doctor that he was fine.

The fight would continue and Silva landed multiple strikes and appeared to have Hamill out on his feet. Hamill would be able to make it to the final bell. All three judges would score the fight for Silva  (16-3, 2NC) and he has won back to back fights for the first time since 2008.
