A middleweight bout will headline the February 8th UFC Fight Night card in Brazil as former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will meet Gegard Mousasi.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Friday afternoon and the fight card will come from Jaragua do Sol, Brazil with the main card airing on Fox Sports 2.
Machida (20-4) made his UFC middleweight debut last week at UFC Fight Night 30 in England and defeated Mark Munoz by knockout in the first round. He won the knockout of the night bonus and it was his first knockout of the night bonus since his victory over Randy Couture in 2011.
Mousasi (34-3-2) is the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and won his UFC defeat againat Ilir Latifi at UFC on FUEL TV 9. It has is fourth straight victory and he has gone 6-0-1 since losing the Strikeforce title to Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.
The UFC will be announcing more fights for this fight card in the coming weeks.
