Thiago Silva out of UFC Fight Night 35 co-main event bout against Ovince St. Preux

It was announced nearly 24 hours ago that the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 35 would be a light heavyweight bout between Thiago Silva and Ovince St.Preux. However, the UFC has announced that Silva is out of the fight.

The UFC has not given a reason on why Silva has been pulled from the fight card and whether St-Preux will remain on the January 15th card, or be moved to another event.

UFC Fight Night 35 will take place from the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia on January 15th and will be headlined by a middleweight bout as Luke Rockhold meets Costa Philippou.

Silva (16-3, 2NC) has won back to back fights with most most recent win coming last month at UFC Fight Night 29 as he defeated Matt Hamill by unanimous decision. The fight with Hamill ended up being a catchweight bout of 208 pounds due to Silva missing weight, and this was the first time in his UFC career that he was unable to make weight.

St. Preux (14-5) has won ten of his last eleven fights after being defeated four times in his first seven fights. He is currently on a three fight winning streak and two of those wins have come in the UFC. His most recent victory took place at UFC Fight Night 26 and he defeated Cody Donovan by knockout in the first round.

The current UFC Fight Night 35: Rockhold vs. Philippou card is below and the UFC will be announcing more fights shortly.

Luke Rockhold (10-2) vs. Costa Phillipou (12-3, 1NC)
Cole Miller (20-8) vs. Sam Sicilia (12-3)
TJ Dillashaw (8-2) vs. Mike Easton (13-3)
