A welterweight bout has been added to UFC 171 in Dallas on March 15th as Hector Lombard will meet Jake Shields.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Sunday after it was reported by ESPN.com.
UFC 171 takes place on March 15th from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira.
Lombard (33-4-1, 1NC) dropped down to the welterweight division in October and defeated former Strikeforce champion Nate Marquardt by knockout in the first round at UFC 166. It was his second win in the UFC and both of this wins have come by knockout in the first round.
Shields (29-6-1, 1NC) has won back to back fights since returning to the welterweight division earlier this year. Both of those wins have come by split decision and his most recent win came at UFC Fight Night 29 when he defeated Demian Maia in the main event.
