A light heavyweight bout that was initially booked to take place at UFC Fight Night 35 has been rescheduled for UFC 171 in Dallas as Thiago Silva will meet Ovince St. Preux.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Saturday and they also announced a middleweight bout has been added as well to the card as Bubba McDaniel meets Tor Troeng.
UFC 171 takes place on March 15th from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira.
Silva (16-3, 2NC) has won back to back fights with most most recent win coming last month at UFC Fight Night 29 as he defeated Matt Hamill by unanimous decision. The fight with Hamill ended up being a catchweight bout of 208 pounds due to Silva missing weight, and this was the first time in his UFC career that he was unable to make weight.
St. Preux (14-5) has won ten of his last eleven fights after being defeated four times in his first seven fights. He is currently on a three fight winning streak and two of those wins have come in the UFC. His most recent victory took place at UFC Fight Night 26 and he defeated Cody Donovan by knockout in the first round.
