UFC 168 Medical Suspensions: Silva, Barnett, Poirier, and Gamburyan facing six month suspensions

The medical suspensions for UFC 168 have been released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and four of the fighters on the card are facing a suspension of six months, including Anderson Silva. UFC 168

The commission released the medical suspensions on Monday afternoon and the suspensions were forwarded to TheMMAReport.com after they were requested.

UFC 168 took place this past Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and was headlined by Chris Weidman defeating Silva in the second round after Silva broke his leg.

Silva will need to have orthopedic clearance on his broken leg or no contest until June 27, 2014. He did have successful surgery and according to a statement released by the UFC, his recovery time will be three to six months.

Also receiving lengthy suspensions were Josh Barnett, Dustin Poirier, and Manny Gamburyan. All three fighters are facing suspensions of six months and all three will need to be cleared by a doctor.

The complete UFC 168 medical suspensions are below:

  • Anderson Silva: Must have orthopedic clearance on right broken leg or no contest until 06/27/14
  • Josh Barnett: Must have right maxillofacial fracture cleared by Oral Maxilla Facial Surgeon or a Plastic Surgeon or no contest until 06/27/14; minimum suspension no contest or no contact until 02/26/14
  • Diego Brandao: Suspend until 02/11/14 with no contact until 01/27/14
  • Dustin Poirier: Must have right shoulder cleared by an orthopedic Doctor or no contest until 06/27/14; minimum suspension no contest until 01/27/14, no contact until 01/18/14
  • Chris Leben: Suspend until 02/11/14 with no contact until 01/27/14 (facial lacerations)
  • Gleison Tibau: Suspend until 02/11/14 with no contact until 01/27/14 (laceration right cheek)
  • Manny Gamburyan: Must have a MRI of left knee if positive then orthopedic clearance or no contest until 06/28/14; minimum suspension no contest until 02/11/14, no contact until 01/27/14
  • Dennis Siver: Suspend until 02/11/14 with no contact until 01/27/14 (scalp laceration)
  • Bobby Voelker: Suspend until 02/11/14 with no contact until 01/27/14 (facial & scalp lacerations)
  • William Macario: Must have x-ray of right hand if positive then needs orthopedic clearance or no contest until 06/28/14
  • Estevan Payan: Suspend until 02/11/14 with no contact until 01/27/14
