WSOF 7 Preliminary Ratings: Down 42% to only 94,000 viewers

This past saturday’s World Series of Fighting 7 event was televised live on the NBC Sports Network and saw Georgi Karakhanyan becoming the World Series of Fighting featherweight champion as he defeated Lance Palmer by submission in the main event.

According to Nielsen sources, the preliminary overnight ratings (which will fluctuate since it was a live event) for the World Series of Fighting 7 event hit a promotion low of 94,000 total viewers.

World Series of Fightings last event (WSOF 6) was (at the time) a series low and only reached 161,000 total viewers, so this weekends show was down roughly 42% from that previous low.

Not helping the situation, the UFC and Fox replayed Friday nights UFC Fight Night 33 head-to-head against WSOF and hit a replay record of 316K viewers.

When it came to the rest of the competition the WSOF had to deal with a full-slate of College Football conference championship games on ABC and Fox that didn’t make the night easy for them.

Fox’s Ohio State vs Michigan State game landed at an impressive 12.3 million viewers and a 3.9 rating, while ABC’s Florida State vs Duke hit only 5.7 million viewers and a 1.7 rating.

This also marks the second consecutive WSOF event where they went head-to-head with major sports action on the national networks.  Something they will want to start rethinking, especially when they move two shows to the national NBC network.
